Islam in Tropical Africa: from Prophet Mohammed to African Union

The article describes the history of the spreading of Islam and its civilization in Africa to the south of Sahara. It analyzes prerequisites of its penetration and popularity among Africans specific features of Afro-Islamic and Islamic-African forms of his world religion. It also examines the reasons for the emergence of its radical currents.
