The pattern of inheritance is shown in F-1 and F-2 of wheat strains that differed in their type of development (spring, two-arm, and winter wheat). The following features are inherited: duration of vegetation period, type of development, and reaction to light. The outdated concept that the type of development and duration of vegetation are determined by vernalization is ruled out. These features are shown to be determined by the reaction of the plant to light during the initial period of life.
