Acetabular fractures are a serious problem in modem orthopaedic surgery. The indications for the different methods of surgical treatment are not clear. Neither are the terms of surgical operations. In this article the authors present their own experience in treating 45 patients with acetabular and pelvic fractures. They classify them into groups and according to the classification grade they specify the surgical operation type. In the article the authors emphasize the importance of primary acetabulum reconstruction as a first stage of surgical treatment. Yhe total hip arthroplasty can be performed only on "prepared hip joint". The article is followed up by the clinical case study.
