Value-based healthcare: Analysis of european institute of innovation and technology health guidelines

Modern healthcare is characterized by a clear trend towards a value-based approach. Evidence-based algorithms and techniques are required for implementation of managerial initiatives in healthcare. Guidelines to implementing a value-based approach in healthcare were published in May 2020 by the European Institute of innovation and technology (EIT Health). The EIT Health guidelines is a comprehensive, goal-oriented document meeting the quality improvement reporting standards (SQUIRE). It indicates the context of the methodology application and the current research goals. Implementation of a value-based approach was realized by introducing a concept of value through detailing the indicators of patient experience. The concept of value-based health-care expands the focus of attention from operating solely with objective clinical data by including a patient’s subjective assessment. Adding measurable subjective values is the essence of a value-based approach that improves an effectiveness of medical care by increasing the volume of perceived values. The last ones may be expertly measured by indicators of patient experience. The document is of significant practical and methodological interest. Assessment of the prospects of this methodology, possible barriers and necessary resources can be important for healthcare management. © 2021, Media Sphera Publishing Group. All rights reserved.
