OUTLINES OF THE 2020 NAGORNO-KARABAKH WAR: POSITIONS OF KEY ACTORS

At the end of September 2020, the world witnessed the newly inflamed conflict in Transcaucasia. The warring countries — Azerbaijan and Armenia have not been able to find a consensus on Nagorno-Karabakh over the years of independence and permanent negotiations. They interpreted the principles of international law in a contradictory manner. Azerbaijan insisted on the principle of territorial integrity of the country, recognized by all states of the world, including Armenia. In its turn, Yerevan, appealed to the principle of right of peoples to self-determination. © 2022, Rossiiskaya Akademiya Nauk, Institut Istorii (Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of General Hist).
