The review is devoted to the problem of active detection and diagnosis of early stages of ovarian cancer. The key events that justified the feasibility of screening for ovarian cancer are discussed, the main screening protocols and the results of large randomized screening studies abroad are described. Currently, most professional communities do not support the strategy of routine screening for ovarian cancer to detect sporadic forms of the disease in the general population of healthy postmenopausal women without specific symptoms. The review discusses the prospects of ovarian cancer screening with a comprehensive assessment of CA 125, imaging methods, and other tumor-associated markers discussed in the literature. © 2021, Media Sphera Publishing Group.
