LANGUAGE POLICY: CASE STUDIES

Language policy is an important component of the general policy of any state. National language policy is aimed at protecting and developing the national language, building a multilingual society. It can be considered as an effective tool to realize the idea of the coexistence of different languages in a unified social environment. At present, some international tendencies e.g. the increase of migration has an impact on the language policy of the state. On the other hand, the language policy implemented by this or that state can cause migration of the population. Hence, the language policy of the state and the migration of the population are two interrelated phenomena, the further study of which seems to be relevant. The purpose of this paper is to study the national language policies of some European countries and compare the various experience of the implementation of language policies by different countries and to analyse the measures of protecting the national language.
