The church in France: formation and development of gallicanism

Secularisation processes under way in the present-day Europe take us back to the times when Europe's religious unity had been destroyed and the countries were seeking to restore it. As, for instance, it was in the times of King Louis XIV. The analysis of the French way to the resolution of this religious issue may lead us to the answer to the present-day challenges, extrapolating historic experience to modern realities. If we look back at the historic experience, we may realize the necessity to restore the authority of the national church.
