EFFECTIVENESS OF CASE-METHOD IN TEACHING RUSSIAN STUDENTS TO TRANSLATE CONCEPTS IN THE PROCESS OF FORMATION OF SOCIO-CULTURAL COPETENCE IN VOLL

The subject of the research is training in translation of the German language concepts in a special discourse in the process of formation of socio-cultural competence (SCC) in vocationally-oriented language learning (VOLL) in Russian Institutes of Higher Learning (RIHL). Practice shows that future translators have difficulties in translation of the concepts due to the inability to correlate socio-cultural "images" of native culture with "images" of the culture of the language under study. Students ' knowledge of a different culture is carried out in the process of perception of someone else's national-specific picture of the world. To solve this problem it is possible to use the case-method (Case Study), which makes the learning process more innovative. On the basis of cognitive approach the students of Russian Peoples' Friendship University were offered the case based on the subject knowledge in specialty "Geology" for training translation of the concept "Ordnung" in German profession oriented texts. The effectiveness of the case proposed is in formation of the students' ability to select equivalents in German culture of the concept "Ordnung" and transmit them into geological texts into Russian. The algorithm of translator's actions in the process of translation of the concept is proposed. The possibilities of the case-method for the development of profession important qualities of a future translator in the process of work on the case, which will contribute to the successful intercultural communication in the field of science and technology between specialists of different linguocultures.
