Prediction of saccadic eye movement for foveated rendering

One of the problems of the foveated rendering technique is timely prediction of the next gaze fixation point. Visual perception is a complex stochastic process. In the paper we propose a method for the early detection of changes in fixation points by using a mathematical model to estimate the coordinates of the new gaze fixation point. The model was used to obtain the prerequisites for an eye tracker’s frequency. A head mounted display with an eye tracker is also described. © 2020 SID.
