The article is dedicated to the general overview of the current state of international studies and scientific activities at RUDN University. The international relations discipline being a humanitarian science heavily stems upon the contemporary issues of global agenda. Obviously most countries like those who refer to the «Golden billion» are generally concentrated on the problems and challenges which are relevant to their development. But in the context of a turbulent and changeable international system this agenda frequently turns out to be non-constructive for the Global South. This brings us to the idea that issues born in the periphery of the international system are rarely targeted by the scientific minds unless they escalate to the global level or start threatening the well-being of the developed states. RUDN University is largely involved a number of research area regarding non-western global security studies, some of which will be covered in the volume. Thus, the article explains the state of research at RUDN University and specifically the role of «Global Security and Development Cooperation» post-graduate program.
