In the modem economic growth concept, the main role is given to increasing the output of industrial products with a high level of value added. At the same time, the material component of production is no less important. This paper is devoted to the optimization of the natural or material resources usage in the production process. The authors study both economic and environmental aspects of the resource conservation problem, relevant in limited resources conditions. The tasks of economic growth, the development of scientific and technological progress in production update the issues of resource supply and regulation of production waste, their safe disposal or re-involvement - recycling - in the production process. Waste recycling allows us to solve environmental problems, opens up new resource opportunities for industrial enterprises. But along with the obvious economic, social, environmental benefits of recycling, there are a number of economic and organizational problems and the need to overcome them. Such problems are changing the nature of production processes and working conditions of workers, changing their qualifications (the need for retraining, changing quality standards of products). The study of resource saving economic problems, ways to solve them, methods of increasing economic efficiency and investment attractiveness for enterprises using biotechnologies, measures to optimize resource consumption, including the effectiveness of involving production waste in the production process, are the content of the study.
