Stimulation of erythropoeisis and regenerative processes in the Danio rerio fish under the influence of interleukin-2

The effect of Roncoleukinum (Interleukin-1, or IL-2) on erythropoeisis, micronuclei formation in erythrocytes, and apoptosis of erythrocytes in the juvenile Danio rerio fish, which have the high regenerative ability, has been studied. The zebrafish were placed for 60 min in the Roncoleukinum solution (5,000 IU/l) one to three times: immediately, 24 hours, and 48 hours after cutting the caudal fin upper lobes off. It has been shown that Roncoleukinum acts as a stimulant for erythropoeisis. Simultaneously with the stimulation of erythropoeisis determined by the reticulocytes occurrence rate, the number of erythrocytes with micronuclei increases, especially after three exposures to the IL-2 solution. Exposing the zebrafish to the Roncoleukinum solution three times also enhances the apoptosis of erythrocytes in the peripheral blood and accelerates the caudal fin upper lobe regeneration to 42 %. It is suggested to use this fish species as a model object for screening the biologically active substances that promote erythropoeisis, apoptosis of erythrocytes, and regeneration of organs and tissues. © IAEME Publication Scopus Indexed.
