Participation of Aral military flotilla in the accession of central Asia to the Russian empire

In this article it is told about some aspects of the history of the achievement of Central Asia by the Russian Empire in XIX the century, in this case primary attention is diverted role in this process of Aral military flotilla. The history of creation and formation of flotilla, its base is given, are analyzed reasons caused the application of warships in this region, in detail are described its ships, their special features and technical characteristics. It is in detail described about studies of Aral sea, determination of astronomical points along the coast, position it is mouth Syrdari and Amu-Dar'ya, carried out the lieutenant commander A.I. Butakovym, and are also described basic expeditions for these rivers. It is told about the combat employment of ships of flotilla both directly in combat and for the supply of the expeditionary troops. The data about attempts at the adjusting of commercial navigation for the transportation of loads and passengers are cited. © Copyright 2017 by Sochi State University.
