Study of trafficability conditions of typical soils of coastal zones of Sakhalin Island (Russian Federation)

The review results have shown, that traffic conditions for special research chassis for coastal zones are investigated not enough. The purpose of this research is in conducting researches of the main types of basic surfaces in a coastal zone and to receive its physico-mechanical and geometrical properties. Originally the choice of standard sites has been car-ried out according to geological cards, on the example of Sakhalin Island. Physico-mechanical and geometrical charac-teristics of sites of the coast on east coast of the Tonino-Aniva peninsula and in the gulf Mordvinova are analyzed. The analytical dependences describing distribution of slopes on main grounds are given. The average values of slopes for sandy grounds were 4 degree, and the average square deviation was 2 degree. For sand-gravel grounds the average values of slopes were 8 degree, and the average square deviation was 3 degree. Change of physico-mechanical charac-teristics of beaches, such as the angle of internal friction, specific coupling of soil and the module of elasticity which have been determined by devices for the quick field tests of soil is analyzed. These dependences can be received from penetration resistance. The carried-out measurements have allowed receiving new analytical dependencies. Thus, for the sandy beach the average value of penetration resistance are 60 N/cm2, and for sand-gravel is 75 N/cm2. The obtained data allow considering features of soil surfaces and a relief of coastal zones that, undoubtedly, will promote development of forecasting methods of mobility of special research chassis for coastal areas.
