SPANISH BORROWINGSIN AMERICAN AND BRITISH ENGLISH

The article deals with Spanish loanwords in American and British English, their historical background, as well as the factors determining the incorporation of Spanish loanwords in English, examines semantic categories of these borrowings, the use and frequency of Spanish loanwords in British and American English, their basic characteristics, analyzes language phenomena called “Spanglish”, its use and characteristics.
