TOPOGRAPHY AND MORPHOMETRICAL ANALYSIS OF THE LUNGS OF JAPANESE QUAIL (COTURNIX JAPONICA)

Japanese quail (Coturnix japonica) is a breed of agricultural birds. Quails have high egg productivity, which is very valuable for the food industry. For the year, the female can produce from 230 to 300 eggs. However, biological features have been studied fragmentarily, therefore, studies aimed at clarifying the morphological features of organ systems are of scientific and practical interest. In addition to the agricultural field, these birds, as well as chickens, are traditionally used as the main models of birds in biological research. This allows to gain experience in the topographic anatomy of birds and apply this knowledge when carrying out disease prevention at poultry farms and treating companion birds or exotic species. Thereby, this report is of interest to all who are engaged in ornithology or veterinary of birds. The decision to study the lungs of these birds was made on the basis of insufficient information on this topic. In order to study the topography and morphometric parameters of the lungs, several experimental autopsies of birds of both sexes were carried out at the Russian Peoples Friendship University, their age was up to 2.5 years. All the results of the study were obtained using direct and indirect measurements and recorded.
