STRUCTURAL-FUNCTIONAL CHANGES OF THE GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT OF DOGS INVASED BY GIARDIA SP

Infection of dogs with protozoa cannot be considered only a local pathological phenomenon, but must be considered as a disease of the whole organism. In our work, we present the data of an ultrasound examination of the gastrointestinal tract of 15 dogs with established giardia in the territory of Moscow and the Moscow region. An ultrasound study was performed on Mindray DC 3. A thickening of the duodenal wall was noted in 93.3%. On average, the thickness was 7.5 mm. The longitudinal sections of the small intestine are tubular, transverse oval, resemble a coffee bean. The inner hyperechoic layer corresponds to the surface of the mucous membrane and the contents of the intestine, the mucous membrane is a thick and hypoechoic submucosa, a thin hyperechoic, muscular layer is thin hypoechoic, the outer serous layer is thin hyperechoic. The differentiation of the layers is well pronounced. In this regard, the importance of studying the pathogenetic features of the course of enterotropic infections in dogs, as well as the development of effective methods for the treatment of enteropathy caused by protozoa, remains a relevant area.
