PROSPECTS FOR TRITICALE CULTIVATION IN RUSSIA

Triticale is a relatively new grain crop, it has great potential for cultivation in the Central Chernozem zone of Russia and its other regions. Now Russia is trying to resume domestic production of food and triticale is a promising crop in the bakery and confectionery industry and in cattle breeding, as it is a good fodder crop. Triticale is a new botanical genus. By combining the chromosomal complexes of two different botanical genera wheat and rye breeders managed to synthesize a new agricultural crop, uniting in one organism everything valuable that wheat and rye can give. Triticale is a wheat-rye hybrid belonging to amphidiploids, which successfully combines the high ecological plasticity of rye and the yield and quality of wheat. Triticale successfully combines resistance to various adverse environmental factors, high winter resistance. The chemical composition of triticale grains is typical for cereals and is characterized by a high content of proteins and carbohydrates. Below is a characteristic of the culture, the content of nutrients in it. Disclosed the advantages of culture, compared with others. Shows statistics of acreage and yield of triticale in Russia.
