INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE AS A REALIZATION OF COMMUNICATIVE INTENTIONS OF THE SENDER (WITH REFERENCE TO TEXTS OF FRENCH-LANGUAGE PRESS)

The questions of functioning of the interrogative sentence as a language means with a phatic function are considered here using the texts of the French-language press, the information sites of radio of France, Canada. The choice of the subject of this study is predetermined by an attempt to reveal the potential of the interrogative sentence with regard to socially significant information - the actual material of the study was the society and environment related texts. So found are the characteristics of the interrogative sentences of these texts, the peculiarities of the communicative intention of their addressee. The interrogative sentences with the function of inquiry, presumably interrogative, arrangement interrogative sentences identified in the research contribute to the expression of the addressee's interest in the described problem. The interrogative sentences with the information about nature's problems, abnormally hot weather, have a phatic or contact-setting function, set up the reader for mutual dialogue, affect his emotional sphere, that are used by the addressee to realize his communicative intention. The use of interrogative sentences in the texts under study is carried out through a successful author's strategy, which is a certain presentation of information that has the character of a communicative intention. The interrogative sentence used in the postposition in relation to the declarative sentence allows the author to make the reader show an interest in the described problem, to note the importance of the described fact. Communicative intention of the addressee is realized through the use of vocabulary with semantics, reflecting the vital concepts for human health, as well as stylistically colored vocabulary. The important role of the interrogative heading in the implementation of the addressee's communicative intention is also noted: by concentrating the content of the text on environmental issues, the headline attracts the reader's attention being a pretext, reflects its concept, provides a pragmatic effect. The phatic function of the heading helps to initiate a dialogue with the addressee, supporting the contact through the information field of the text. Socio-economic and natural factors underlying the use of interrogative sentences in the texts of the French-language press were considered in certain areas: the nature's problems of the regions, the abnormally high temperature and the public's reaction to the arising difficult situations. The issues of hot weather were studied in conjunction with such issues as: the preservation of public health in extreme conditions, support for the health of employees; the negative impact of heat on the mental state of the person; the role of local traditions of certain European countries, in particular, such as siesta, in the fight against hot weather; means and methods of air conditioning buildings, premises, support of a safe temperature atmosphere; aspects of labor law with comments of competent persons in this area; the need to comply with the dress code for employees or forced its cancellation for a certain period due to the extreme situation; the environmental conditions of large cities, countries, their future, the prospect of development in difficult weather conditions; the negative impact of heat on the economic growth of the country; the relationship of abnormally hot weather with the climate change. The characteristics of the interrogative sentence identified in the course of the research using the example of the French-language press with regard to social and environmental factors allow us to consider it as an effective language means of implementing the communicative intention of the addressee and broaden the prospects for the interrogative sentence.
