The kinetics of solution of magnetite was studied as functions of the concentrations of hydrochloric acid and nonaqueous solvents. Methods for calculating the kinetic constants based on heterogeneous and electrochemical kinetics principles and a model mechanism of solution of magnetite taking into account the acid-base and adsorption properties of magnetite were suggested, Stimulating effects of nonaqueous solvents on the kinetic processes were explained by changes in the potential at the oxide/electrolyte interface.
