Place names are symbols of cultural subjugation. Today, in the current democratic context and with a country that claims to have changed the special linguistic and historical question about etymology, origin and meaning of place-names, it has the very current meaning. This article deals with the task of collecting, integrating and systematizing existing research on the names of some places in the mountain areas and Bolivian hills. From the point of view of linguistics and etymology it also seems interesting to analyze the origin and changes of place names and the influence of Spanish language and culture on the evolution of local place names.
