Electron acceleration by Gaussian electromagnetic beam in a stationary magnetic field

Relativistic electron motion in the electromagnetic Gaussian beam that propagates along a stationary magnetic field is studied. It is shown that, if the cyclotron resonance conditions are initially satisfied, electrons can be efficiently accelerated over a relatively small interval at a slightly lower rate than in a plane accelerating wave. © 2000 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".
