Pedagogical tools as a modern concept are actively used by foreign and Russian scientists in their professional activities. However, its adequate definition is extremely rare in foreign dictionaries, it is absent in Russian reference books and encyclopedias, that testifies to the scientific novelty in the pedagogical field. The article attempts to analyze in detail the concept, the definition of the essence and significance for pedagogy as a science. The study of pedagogical tools presented in the articles of Russian and foreign scientists on the websites of various educational institutions made it possible to consider it as a borrowing in Russian (presumably from the English language), consisting of two words isolated from each other, one of which is the main component, the other clarifying its content. In foreign studies, this concept sounds like “pedagogical tools”, “educational tool”. The article proposed the author's definition of the concept “pedagogical tools”. The diverse content of pedagogical tools in terms of significant pedagogical components in the process of education and upbringing has been revealed. Using their own experience as an example, a pedagogical tools for improving the professional competence of philology teachers in the territory of the Republic of Dagestan (RF) has been compiled and considered its main components.
