Comparative evaluation of magnetite dissolution efficiencies of EDTA and OEDP aqueous solutions

The influence of EDTA and OEDP on the magnetite dissolution rate in various experimental conditions was studied. From a comparative analysis of rate data in commensurate conditions, EDTA is a more efficient complexone than OEDP. The effect of both the nitrogen-bearing and the phosphorus-bearing complexones was to change the potential at the oxide/solution interface. The potential-controlling reaction was recognized as FeIIIY- + H+ + e = FeIIHY-. © 2009 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
