The adsorption of n-hexane on the surface of foamed nickel was studied. As the temperature increases from 233 to 323 K, the contribution from reversible adsorption n-C6H14 decreases, whereas that from activated adsorption increases. Activated adsorption is associated with sites (mobile nickel adatoms) whose concentration increases with temperature. Experiments with adsorbent samples subjected to special thermal treatments (quenching and annealing) support this assumption.
