Pancreatic encephalopathy (Russian)

Pancreatitis may be accompanied by the development of some neuropsychic disorders, such as psychomotor excitation, meningeal signs, nystagmus, symptoms of oral automatisms, an increase of the tendon reflexes, etc. Such disturbances may take the form of an acute or chronic encephalopathy. Pathomorphological and biochemical data indicate that the most significant element in the pathogenesis of these syndromes is a disturbance of the enzymic functions with excretion of large amounts of activated proteolytic enzymes.
