Three principal models of transplantation of the intestine were elaborated in experiments on 147 rats: orthotopic and heterotopic autotransplantation and allogenic transplantation associated with implantation of blood vessels of the transplanted intestine to the iliac vessels, aorta or inferior vena cava. The most frequent complications secondary to the operations are reviewed together with the ways of prevention and prospects for using intestinal transplants in rats.
