The research aims to analyze the realization of the potential of electronic applications for online communication in vocational education. The task of educational institutions is to incorporate unconventional solutions into the educational process for conducting classes, projects, games, and other collective activities. Expanding the scale of interaction and communication in the electronic environment is the area that requires the most attention from the scientific community. By conducting an electronic survey among students, the authors found a high interest in using applications that contribute to effective communication. The research involved 520 people from 20 to 25 years. The authors also conducted a more in-depth survey for students to study their attitudes to using non-standard applications for the educational process of communication. The survey was conducted in an electronic format and contained 25 questions. The general interest of students and the global trend toward using electronic means of communication is positive, which indicates the prospects for introducing online applications for webinars in vocational education. We can observe the positive dynamics of application usage, which will become higher in the future. The realization of the potential of electronic means for organizing the educational process makes it possible to expand the possibilities of student training. This is an opportunity to build a broad intercultural dialog, exchange experience, learn a foreign language, and interact with many experienced practitioners. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
