Generative Artificial Intelligence Models Use in English Language Teaching

Recent development of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) has greatly impacted on the outlook of people in a certain way. Various dilemmas have been raised regarding GenAI and AI in English Language Teaching (ELT) and learning in higher education, taking into account their positive and negative prospects influencing educational standards. As far as English is considered to be an international language, it is vital to evolve teaching tools and strategies. The purpose of the research article is to define various models of GenAI in teaching and learning English at universities, to explore its efficiency in ELT classes, and to pinpoint students' engagement and motivation on this issue. Special attention was devoted to various AI tools which would possibly be crucial in use while teaching English in higher education. Data from the research revealed a wide range of AI models for generating course related materials, tailor-made tasks for students, and models' usage in keening English language skills. The results also indicated a favorable effect on the utilization of AI models among ELT teachers, and their positive impact on the learning environment. © 2025 IEEE.
