Obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS), disrupting natural sleep cycles and associated with such conditions as arterial hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, cerebrovascular accident, cardiovascular diseases in common with its causes, constantly draws the attention of clinicians. Objective. To summarize and analyze relevant publications on OSAS. Material and methods. The analysis of publications (articles and relevant abstracts) presented in PubMed database was carried out (1981—2022). The data was selected by keywords: obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome, ankyloglossia, myofrenuloplasty. Results. It is shown that OSAS is a widespread condition, significance of which is not fully defined for each person and for society as a whole. Associated with OSAS diseases manifest at a younger age and lead to disability and premature death without its early detection and correction. Conclusion. Research of OSAS causes, development of new treatment methods and improvement of existing ones remain relevant. © 2024 Media Sphera Publishing Group. All rights reserved.
