The first experience of using a biodegradable collagen matrix for the prevention of contour deformation of the breast after sectoral resection for a benign formation

Objective. To present the efficacy of biodegradable collagen matrix in sectoral breast resection for benign tumor (fibroadenoma). Material and methods. Surgical treatment is the main treatment of benign breast tumors. However, simple breast tissue relocation to the defect area sometimes leads to unsatisfactory aesthetic results. Biodegradable collagen matrix consisting of microparticles of animal collagen in a gel identical to natural matrix is the world’s first drug capable of rejuvenating and tightening the skin due to the body’s own resources. This drug is also hypoallergenic, does not cause edema, does not migrate and does not contribute to fibrosis. Results. This method provided positive results, i.e. soft tissue volume replenishment without breast surface deformation. Conclusion. Biodegradable collagen matrix contributes to regeneration of damaged tissues. © 2024, Media Sphera Publishing Group. All rights reserved.
