Аbstract. The Department for Publishing Programs at the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) is preparing for publication a book by Jiří Šubrt and Denis Podvoyskiy “Contemporary Sociological Theories: How Not to Get Lost in the Conceptual Labyrinth?”. The Monitoring of Public Opinion: Economic and Social Changes Journal presents a book fragment devoted to the work of eminent Russian and American sociologist Pitirim A. Sorokin. Not claiming to describe Sorokin’s ‘theoretical synthesis’ in its entirety, the author of this essay aims at identifying and characterizing the general line of Sorokin’s ideological evolution from the starting neopositivist attitudes of the "Russian period" to the field of culture analysis. © 2023 Russian Public Opinion Research Center, VCIOM.
