Epidemic Progression in a Heterogeneously Distributed Population

The chapter is devoted to a compartmental epidemiological model of infection progression in a space-distributed multipatch population with communication between the patches due to the movement of individuals. The subpopulations inside the patches consist of different groups with respect to the intensity of disease transmission both within and between groups. The heterogeneity of the population and its transfer between the patches influence the rate of epidemic progression, the final size of the epidemic, and the number of infected individuals. © 2022, Bentham Books imprint.
