Competitiveness of Climate-Responsible Entrepreneurship of Central Asia and Eastern Europe in the World Markets of the Digital Economy

Purpose: This work dwells on the issues of achieving a high level of competitiveness of climate-responsible entrepreneurship in the markets of the digital economy, viewed from the position of the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. A sample of countries was studied based on the criteria of successfulness of their policy in the issues of fighting climate change and the development of the digital economy. Design/methodology/approach: The research methodology is based on the matrix method, which envisages the determination of the countries’ positions by the criteria of effectiveness of actions aimed at fighting climate change and development of the digital economy; in their totality, they characterise the level of climate-responsible entrepreneurship’s competitiveness in the markets of the digital economy. Findings: The level of competitiveness of climate-responsible entrepreneurship in countries of Central Asia and Eastern Europe in the markets of the digital economy was determined by the criteria of environmental effectiveness and the level of digital technologies development. The level of the balance of the countries’ development by the designated criteria was discovered; the domination of climate-responsible or digital priority in a country’s development was determined. Originality/value: The results obtained have a very important methodological value for the research in the sphere of assessment of the level of entrepreneurship’s climate responsibility in the markets of the digital economy. They allow structuring objects of the sample by the level of successfulness of their climate-responsible policy, considering the directions for correcting their activities. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.
