В.Н. Хитрово и православные школы в Святой Земле в 1880-1890-е гг

В статье рассматриваются религиозно-политические обстоятельства и условия, в которых В.Н. Хитрово создавал православные школы в Святой Земле. Стремление России укрепить свое культурно-религиозное влияние в регионе наталкивалось на упорное сопротивление Святогробского братства, Иерусалимских Патриархов Фотия и Никодима. В.Н. Хитрово в своей деятельности по созданию православных школ вынужден был учитывать как позицию церковных иерархов, стремившихся ослабить влияние России, так и непоследовательную деятельность российского МИДа. Хотя успехи по созданию школ в 1880-е гг. в Палестине были очевидны, противодействие русскому школьному делу было столь велико, что В.Н. Хитрово в 1890-е гг. перенес проект по массовому созданию православных школ в Сирию.

The article examines the religious and political circumstances and conditions in which V.N. Khitrovo created Orthodox schools in the Holy Land. Russia’s desire to strengthen its cultural and religious influence in the region was met with stubborn resistance from the Holy Sepulchre Brotherhood, the Patriarchs of Jerusalem Photius and Nicodemus. V.N. Khitrovo, in his work on the creation of Orthodox schools, had to take into account both the position of church hierarchs who sought to weaken Russia’s influence, and the inconsistent activities of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Although the success of the establishment of schools in the 1880s. In Palestine, it was obvious that the opposition to the Russian school business was so great that V.N. Khitrovo in the 1890s transferred the project for the mass creation of Orthodox schools to Syria.
