THE IMPACT OF AI ON THE JOB MARKETFOR JOURNALISTS AND THE NEED FOR NEWSKILLS AND TRAINING

This article examines the impact of artificial intelligence on the journalism profession. As artificial intelligence technology, automation techniques, and machine learning algorithms develop, jobs for journalists and other journalism practitioners could be reduced (1). According to a report published by Brookings, a U.S. think tank, about 36 percent of jobs in the journalism industry could be replaced by AI by 2025. But this technology also creates new opportunities for journalists willing to adapt and learn new skills. To be competitive in the job market in the age of automation, journalists must adapt to new technologies and acquire new technical skills.
