The problem of epigraphs that appear in literature is considered one of the most lively and mysterious, because the author leaves absolutely no clue for what purpose and what meaning he left this epigraph before the work. The most striking example is the epigraphs in the works of Leo Tolstoy, which to this day have dozens of different interpretations. But the problem of speaking names, accents and hidden meanings put into the work by the author, still raises a lot of questions and inquiries in the study of the literary work. In this article we will trace the formation of the onym as a poetic figure and show the prospects of contextual analysis with the help of guidebook and its creation.
