Human rights legislation in Viet Nam: Achievements and Shortcomings

Since the “Renovation” in 1986, Viet Nam has made impressive progress in the economy, improved the standard living of people. This economic reform set out the demands of recognizing, respecting, protecting, and guaranteeing human rights in Viet Nam, especially in the process of legislation to ensure the full enjoyment of people’s basic rights. This paper analyzes and assesses the achievements, limitations of the process of legislation on protecting human rights in the Vietnamese legal system. From analyzing these criteria, this paper offers some recommendations for improving the effectiveness of legislation in this field.
