SELF-RELATION OF STUDENTS IN THE CONDITIONS OF NETWORK ACTIVITY

"Background: The Internet has become an integral part of the young people's daily life where the network is used not only as an information resource, but also as a medium of communication, and entertainment. The possibilities of social virtual reality influence the perception of oneself, the attitude towards oneself as a person. The purpose of research is to study the characteristics of students' self-relation in relation to the characteristics of network activity and attitudes towards using the Internet. Practical significance and actuality of the study is based on the lack of knowledge of this problem. Methods:The empirical research conducted by the base of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia was attended by students of journalism and natural science. The sample size was 80 respondents. The average age of participants was 18 years old. The authors used the survey method, methods of mathematical data processing and computer analysis. To study the characteristics of students' sets, a questionnaire of sets was applied to the Internet. (R. Davis in E. Gubenko's adaptation). Network activity strategies were studied using an Internet behavior questionnaire (A. Zhichkina). The questionnaire of self-relation (V.V. Stolin, S.R.Panteleyev) and the method “The Contingent Self-Esteem Scale” (M. Kernis and A. Paradise in the adaptation of T. N. Savchenko, A. G. Faustova) made it possible to diagnose the relationship of a person to own personality and what is happening around the events and the people around. Results:The authors presented the types of students' network activity by the nature of the involvement and the degree of Internet interaction, and the features of students' attitudes towards the Internet were considered. The relationship of the subject to himself is described in the context of the emotional value relationship. An important result of the research is the revealed statistically reliable interrelations of the self-relation's components with the characteristics of network activity and sets for using the Internet. Conclusions: In the conditions of network interaction, students demonstrate different strategies of network activity. Their behavior on the Internet determines the features of sets formed under the influence of external and internal factors. The specificity of the manifestation of self-relation is an indicator of the subjective well-being of the individual, including in the conditions of virtual communication. The study of self-relation of students is important for research in the field of psychological education, prevention of Internet addiction, psychological consultation, as well as for the organization of interaction in a virtual educational environment."
