STUDENT SCIENTIFIC SOCIETIES AS A TOOL FOR INVOLVING STUDENT YOUTH IN RESEARCH ACTIVITIES IN THE UNIVERSITY

In the modern system of vocational education, the research activities of students play an important role in ensuring the quality of their professional training. At the same time, at the present, the prestige of scientific activity and the activity of students in this field have significantly decreased, which actualizes the need to develop new forms and tools for involving students in research activities. Despite a rather large number of studies in this area, the issues of new forms and effective tools for involving students in research activities need to be developed. In the process of research conducted by the authors, an analysis of the practices of carrying out research activities of Moscow universities has been realized. Historical and pedagogical analysis has been conducted and the history of the emergence of students' scientific societies in Russia has been studied. Students from five universities have been interviewed with the help of an online survey for their participation in research activities. The experience of organization and activity of students' scientific societies in universities of different directions: nuclear, medical, economic, social, technological and international relations is analyzed. The results of the survey in universities showed a weak interest of students to engage in research activities. On their own initiative, only about 7% of respondents said they want to engage in research and development. The remaining respondents indicated that they are ready to engage in research activities only to obtain a positive assessment. The forms of research activities in universities have been identified and the most preferable ones for the majority of students have been defined. On the basis of the received material positive aspects of activity of students' scientific societies, their shortcomings and problem aspects of activity, as well as prospects for development have been singled out. From the positive sides it was noted that the students' scientific society helps talented students realize themselves, can make changes in the research agenda of the university, thereby widening its boundaries and increasing the field of activity. The lack of systemic activity in higher education institutions, the poor alignment of development strategies, the work of students' scientific society with university's internal laboratories, etc., have been attributed to the problematic sides. Of the highlighted development prospects, the exchange of positive practices between higher educationinstitutions, the increase of motivation among students, the development of programs of continuity between different levels of training should be noted. Students' scientific society with effective organization can serve as a tool for involving students in research and development and ensure high quality of professional training.
