USING MOOCS AS A TOOL FOR INTERNATIONALIZATION AT HOME: STUDENTS' PERSPECTIVE ANALYSIS

Internationalization at home is a term that appeared at the turn of the century largely describes the process of acquiring intercultural competence by students without leaving their native city/country. The article aims at conducting the experimental analysis of MOOCs used as a tool to promote and enhance internationalization at home. The MOOCs were used as part of law students' independent learning of foreign (English) language, which is a compulsory subject for lawyers-to-be. To attain the set purpose we conducted an experiment designed to obtain students' assessment of MOOCs effectiveness for fostering international and intercultural competence as well as to obtain their feedback on general MOOC experience. The MOOCs chosen for the experiment were mostly so called cMOOCs that are oriented at cooperative learning through relying on support from MOOC community of peer learners thus stimulating learners to enhance their communicative skills in largely international environment. The research outcomes obtained in the course of the experiment reveal certain dependences of students' assessment of MOOCs effectiveness to enhance their intercultural learning experience on students' initial level of the English language command and little dependence on students' age group and level of professional training.
