THE USE OF LINGO-DIDACTIC GAMES IN TEACHING GERMAN FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES

Teaching a foreign language for specific purposes is one of the goals of the curriculum at a non-linguistic higher education institution. Various lingo-didactic technologies are used to realize this goal. Gamification approach i.e. the use of educational games including computer games is of crucial importance. Different aspects of using games in teaching English for specific purposes were already examined by one of the authors (Belenkova N. Computer Games: Leisure or Stimulus to Learning. International Conference ICT for Language Learning. 6th Conference Edition Florence, Italy 14-15 November 2013). This paper concentrates on teaching the German language as the language for specific purposes and the use of gamification approach for this purpose. The practical teaching experience of foreign language training lawyers-to-be at the Institute of Law, RUDN University (Peoples' Friendship University of Russia) is presented. The findings of the pedagogical experiment and the survey held among the students studying law are analyzed. The paper includes some recommendations on the use of lingo-didactic games including computer games in teaching German for specific purposes in a non-linguistic higher education institutions for lawyers-to-be.
