KIDNEY IMPLICATION IN DIABETES TYPE 2. SODIUM GLUCOSE COTRANSPORTERS'-2 INHIBITORS

Diabetes describes a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia because of inadequate insulin production or insulin resistance syndrome. Kidneys control glucose concentration in blood due to sodium-glucose cotransporters (SGLT-2 transporters). SGLT-2 inhibitors decrease glucose reabsorption. This is a revolutionary insulin independent way to treat diabetes as it does not cause hypoglycemia and helps to lose weight.
