В работе представлена программа осуществления продовольственной безопасности в тюрьмах Конмара и Вава (г. Гверу, Зимбабве). Из среды заключенных были отобраны около ста человек для обучения садоводству. Они получили соответствующие удостоверения. Была установлена новая система полива и две артезианские скважины для забора воды. Выращивались лук, капуста, серый орех, арахис, фасоль, которые были включены в рацион заключенных
SUPPORTING FOOD ASSISTANCE IN ZIMBABWE PRISONS PROGRAM (2010-2011)
The article reveals how a program implemented by Caritas Gweru at Connemara Open prison and Whawha Correctional prisons decreased food insecurity. Selected inmates received training in gardening as rehabilitation and received certificates of participation as motivation. Onions, cabbages, butternuts, groundnuts and sugar beans were grown and were included in the inmates' diet. A new irrigation system was installed at Whawha correctional prisons and two boreholes at Connemara prison were equipped and the irrigation system at both prisons were functional.
