DEPENDENCE OF MANGROVE BIOMASS ON COASTAL WATERS SALINITY

The article shows the influence of salinity changes on the stability of mangrove forests and their individual species as a result of climate change, human impact on water management systems. It was found that the biomass of Bruguiera gymnorhiza falls with the increasing salinity of coastal waters. Statistical analysis of the data revealed a strong dependence of the biomass on the salinity and strong inverse correlation. Consequently the salinity of coastal waters is one of the key factors affecting the biomass of mangrove forests.
