Limited access to foreign professional literature has consequences for research and practice: persistence of some outdated methods. The shortage of foreign literature has been partly compensated by domestic editions, containing compilations from foreign sources, borrowings without references, and mistranslations. International literature is scarcely quoted in some scientific publications. Drawbacks in the works of two large libraries are discussed here. Today, however, there are grounds for optimism: the economic upturn must bring improvements.
