В статье выявляются факторы территориального размещения старообрядческих центров в конце XVIII - первой половине XIX в., переместившихся с периферии в Москву и Петербург, крупнейшие торгово-промышленные анклавы Европейской России. Главным конфессиональным центром ведущих согласий стала Москва под воздействием социокультурной традиции и освобожденной от этатизма духовной концепции «Москва - Третий Рим».
