ЭКОВАС - один из крупнейших и комплексных из региональных организаций в Западной Африке. В условиях изменения климата, западная Африка, как и остальные, части континента, регулярно сотрясали периодические природные кризисы. Многие ученые начали говорить об масштабным экологическим кризис в Африке, если вовремя не будут приняты меры. Для Африки в целом и ЭКОВАС в частности, необходимо принимать конкретные меры для зашиты окружающей среды. Поэтому, страны ЭКОВАС ратифицировали много экологических конвенций для того, чтобы бороться против экологических проблем. Данная статья именно обсуждает имплементация экологических норм в сфере охраны окружающей среды в странах Эковас.

Implementation of environmental norms in ECOWAS: Economic Community of West African States

ECOWAS, the Economic Community of West Africa is one of the largest and most complex of the regional organizations in West Africa. It's a region full of oil and gas producers such as Nigeria and Ghana. In the context of climate change, West Africa is regularly shaken by periodic natural crises. Scientists started talking about future large-scale environmental crisis in Africa, if nothing is done to improve the situation. In the field of wildlife for example, concrete measures have to be taken against poaching to ensure the existence of animal species. International environmental law expert believe that to solve their environmental problems, ECOWAS countries, need to work closely with leading international organizations working in the field of environmental protection, namely the organizations of the United Nations because there is a particular need to take concrete measures to safeguard African environment. That's the concrete reason why many African countries have mostly ratified environmental conventions to combat environmental problems. This article discusses the implementation of environmental norms in the ECOWAS region and analyzes the efforts made by the states in the field of nature protection and identifies gaps. In conclusion, we can say that the ECOWAS region still has work to do to ensure a perfect environment to its population and this article encourage sustainable development.
