Несмотря на множество исследований, все еще не ясно, как реально функционирует общество знания, действительно ли наше ближайшее будущее будет определять «власть знающих». Портрет интеллектуала сегодня крайне противоречив, точно так же, как противоречиво и время современности. Но если последнее – постоянный предмет научного интереса, то первое, как правило, оказывается вне сферы внимания исследователей. В статье, с опорой на художественный образ профессора Криминале (М. Брэдбери), ставится вопрос о месте и роли интеллектуала в современном обществе, поднимается проблема производства и распространения знания в эпоху после модерна.

INTELLECTUAL IN THE MIRROR OF AN EPOCH (POLEMICAL NOTES)

Despite many studies, it is still unclear how the knowledge society actually functions, and whether it is true that our near future will be determined by the "power of the informed". The portrait of an intellectual today is extremely controversial, just as controversial as the modern age itself. But if the latter is the constant subject of academic interest, the former tends to be outside of the interests of the researchers. This paper, drawing on the artistic image of Doctor Criminale (M. Bradbury), poses the question of the place and role of the intellectual in modern society, and raises the problems associated with the production and distribution of knowledge in the post-modern age.
